Spring is here!

So it’s official, spring is here!!! As we hopefully near the end of our over layered looks (clothing wise,) and our winter dulled skin – we look ahead to what’s in store for us.The past couple weeks here in Chicago have been absolutely beautiful! As a Chicagoan, it does scare me to think what’s next as far as weather since this is so out of the norm!! But regardless, whatever it is we shall embrace it with grace and style as we all know how to do!! I’ve LOVED seeing all the fun bright colored jeans on the streets. It’s such a fun way to change out of the normal everyday look of blue jeans. It brightens your day.

Bright pedicured toes have hit the streets as well. I must say, the new teal green that’s out for your toesies is just to damn hot!! I love it. If your feeling bold this spring, but yet not bold enough to add to much color to your wardrobe, why not adding it to your toes. They’ll thank you for it later.

And last, but by far never the least, why not spring into action with a hot new look. I’ve said it several times before, just a slight change could make the biggest impact in your whole look, and make it a positive one. How about some chunky, edgy bangs?? Or, try asking your stylist to make your bob a little more asymmetrical???? For those of us women with long hair, just styling with a little more product to create a beach wave effect instead of a stick straight one, can really amp up your look for the 2012 season.
Whatever your look is, just trying a slight change can make the biggest difference. Until next time, stay trendy!!!

Oscar’s Fashion

I cant begin to explain to you guys how excited I was to watch all the Live red carpet shows leading up to the big event.

I have to admit I was very excited to see some of the looks I was telling you about last month. And as far as the gowns go, I can honestly say that this year there weren’t to many that I wouldn’t wear myself. I couldn’t pick my fav as far as gowns go, but I will share this with you. I did love Angelina Jolie’s dress, and Ill get to her hair after, but if I had to see her pose with her leg out in one more picture I was going to scream! Just because your dress has a beautiful high split, does not mean you must do the splits in nearly every picture!! With that said lets move on to the beautiful hair I admired.

Milla Jovovich’s swept up hair was a big win for me. It exuded class and sexiness all in one glance. The big blow out hair I spoke of last month was worn very nicely by our Angelina Jolie and Kristen Wig. Last nights heavy hitters with HEAVY bangs were all over the twitterverse yesterday. I personally loved Ellie Kempers, and Rose Byrne’s bangs. Honorable mention goes out too Anna Faris. And last, but not least, Sofia Vegara had by far the best waves in my opinion. She’s just beautiful in general, but I love her hair. Hope you guys got a chance to see some of the red-carpet looks. If not, GOOGLE them…Till next month.

Hair Wars!

Salon Fusion has been asked to participate in Hair wars! Hair wars is an international tour where top salons in each region
compete down the runway in a themed fashion show that is judged and
awarded. Winners receive the title, “supreme salon”, $$$,
amazing gift bags, and of course a trophy. On top of that, the top 3 salons
advance to the national finals which is held in Las Vegas. The show is hosted by celebrity hair stylist Ben Mollin, as seen on Bravo’s TV show “Shear Genius”. As well as Chicago’s very own special celebrity judge Eli
Mancha (Bang Salon), NAHA’s Hairstylist of the Year for 2011.

2012 Hair and Fashion Outlook

I know our blog is starting a month late into the year, but all good things come to those who wait.
2012 is starting off strong and showing us all what fun BRIGHT colors spring and summer has in store for us. Between Hair and Fashion 2012 is all about revival. We ended 2011 with a lot of color blocking and metallic pieces which were interpreted by many very well and others…… well you’ll see them in the back of the Glamour DON’TS section
Color blocking is still very big for this spring. Strong bright accents are back in the drivers seat this spring, which is what Im truly excited for. Bold colored shoes and bags are back, and brighter then ever. Put away your black strappy gladiator shoes and pair that classic black cocktail dress with some hot pink shoes or purple ones! If to much color isn’t your cup of tea, try some black heels that just have a touch of color added to them. Pastel colors have always seemed to make there way back into our fashionable lives. Sea foam green seems to be the hottest trend out there for 2012. I just wish some pieces would come with warning labels, that if purchasing to or more pieces to wear together, an Easter egg affect could occur!
Did I mention floral prints too? Please proceed with caution as well. I personally love the floral, brighter prints.

Hair for 2012 is all about revival, or as Justin Timberlake says, “We’re bringing SEXY back”!! Classic looks make there way back into the spotlight as flat ironed hair takes a step back into the back round. Big hair is HUGE this year. By big I don’t mean crunchy back combed with rave hairspray, I mean full blow outs slightly pinned back Bridget Bardox styles. Yes ladies, it’s time to bring back the round brush and put away our flat irons for awhile. You can continue your middle part too! That seems to be pretty hot as well!! I’m seeing a lot of wet looks too this year. Especially slightly pinned to the side. Bobs are always around, still with a fun edgy fringe.
As far as hair color goes, multi-colored hair, with lots of dimension is the way to go! The Ombre took 2011 by storm and still seems to be pretty “IN” for this year. I still like it, but I choose not to go as extreme in the dark color at the root as we did in 2011, but enough to see some difference.

March Spring Release

So the time has come for the 2011 “Salon Fusion Spring Forecast”. So you ask whats in, and whats out? I can tell you that the “Fringe” is back and bolder is better then ever. We aren’t talking side swept fringe (bangs) people… We’re talking strong geometric shapes. For example; While keeping the fringe blunt, we’ll be cutting one side short while leaving the other side long. (Now keep in mind that doesn’t necessarily mean on an angle, there are many variations to this strong look, just depends on how adventures you want to be.) Another look that has been resurrected is the bob – Very classic cut right? Wrong, its 2011 we’re kicking it up a notch, sure we’ll keep the classic straight base line as always, but we plan on personalizing it with extreme texture!!!

As for color, lets just say that you might want to hold of on buying that purple shampoo people… Yes, it’s true… WARM is in… and cool tone blondes are taking the back seat this spring. So make room for all those warm tones such as beige, gold, chestnut and mahogany to come out and play. Did I mention reds? Well they’re hot too!!! These are fun tones to play with, and there are so many variations. Yes we’ll see lots of bold colors and different shades, while staying away from those traditional boring highlights. Keep in mind this means less maintenance for you!
